“Over the years, I've bought my mom nice watches, earrings, and necklaces, and she's never worn any of them. During one visit, I asked her why, and she said she was allergic to all types of metals--even gold. (I wish she'd said something earlier; her grandkids are wearing all the nice jewelry I got her!)
