I don't know anything about pearls, but my wife loves these. I upgraded the clasp, but still, it is hard to use, though It does seem quite secure. Maybe I should have gone with a larger clasp, not just an upgraded clasp. Small, hard for wife and me to manipulate. I love the set. I bought another piece at the same time for birthday gift to complete the set. I bought a longer bracelet and necklace. Good thing the bracelet was longer, because any shorter and she would not be wearing it. Wife is petite, but would not have fit standard size. Always increase size unless you are super thin, like anorexic.

I was disappointed in the bracelet--although advertised at 6.5 inches, it was barely 6 inches and I had to take it to a jeweler to be made 1/2 inch larger so I could wear it. I would recommend ordering the larger size bracelet. However, the black pearls were beautiful, perfectly matched the necklace and earrings, and looked fabulous with my outfit -- all at a great price.

I like the set, but it wasn't exactly what I wanted. It was a gift for me, so I kept it. I had upgraded the clasp to white gold but to me, it still looked like cheap nickel or low grade silver. The color is very dyed-looking; I ordered grey and got purple. I might as well have bought costume pearls, I think. The earrings just recently broke, but this is an issue with glue and pearls in general (had this problem with expensive pearl studs recently too.) You get what you pay for...
