Pearl Measurements
Cultured pearls are measured in millimeters (mm).
Common pearl sizes are converted as follows:
(1mm = approx. 0.04 of an inch.)
5mm to 6mm:
approximately 1/5 of one inch
6mm to 7mm:
approximately 1/4 of one inch
7mm to 8mm:
approximately 1/3 of one inch
9mm to 10mm:
approximately 2/5 of one inch
12mm to 13mm:
approximately 1/2 of one inch
